Letter: Whistles are a permanent feature

Over and over again we see people complaining about the train whistles. What I don’t understand is, didn’t they see the tracks when they looked at their house before buying? Surely they knew tracks equal trains, which equal whistles.

Train whistles are for safety because just as people can’t seem to comprehend there are trains on the tracks, they can’t seem to comprehend they should not be on the tracks. Unless, of course, they are a train.

It is really pretty simple. If the trains bother you, buy a house somewhere else. The trains have been there since early 1900s, how about you?
