Letter: Have the type of day that suits you

In response to Marilyn Tyrrell’s July 25 letter, “Switch out programmed greetings,” I have had the same thought for over 10 years. And to steal the phrase from a very dear friend of mine, when someone tells you to have a nice day, simply say, “Don’t tell me what to do.” Then I say to them to have whatever kind of day you would like to have. And over time they will stop telling you to have a nice or good day.

I have been doing that for years. And it has made those people to come up with something different. And they will remember. And then it will become fun.
