Sapa Extrusion earns port’s facilities award

The Port of Vancouver has presented Sapa Extrusions, a producer of aluminum products, with its 2014 Facilities Improvement Award.

The company was selected because it “surpassed employment and build-out goals and performed exceptional community outreach,” the port said in a news release this week. Sapa, which employs 111 workers at its Vancouver facility, replaced its asphalt floors with concrete, surpassed initial employment goals and added insulation to walls to muffle noise. “The company also hired locally,” the port said, “including workers from the adjacent Fruit Valley neighborhood.”
