A disgruntled hotel visitor assaulted an employee Monday morning and made off with an envelope he might have believed contained cash, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The envelope actually just held receipts.

The incident at Best Western Plus, 9420 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive, was reported at 10:43 a.m. The visitor, a man in his 40s, stayed overnight at the hotel Sunday and was upset about not getting his room deposit back, said Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp. He assaulted a hotel employee and snatched an envelope that had receipts inside of it, Kapp said.

The hotel employee, a 36-year-old woman wasn’t seriously injured and refused medical treatment.

Police were not able to locate the suspect.
