A Woodland man was arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly assaulting an employee at an optometry office.

The incident was reported just before 2:30 p.m. as a robbery at Woodland Eye and Vision, 500 Columbia St. An employee at the business finished up with a customer and went to the back storage room, where the employee was confronted by a man who had just purchased a pair of sunglasses. The man assaulted the employee in the storage room and said he had a gun. After a brief struggle, the suspect ran out of the business.

The suspect, Ryan Taitt, 33, was located nearby in the 600 block of Beechwood Street. Officers did not find a gun on him. Taitt was arrested without incident and booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on suspicion of assault and kidnapping.
