Red Cross honors volunteers

VanMall — At the Southwest Washington American Red Cross Volunteer Recognition Dinner on May 13, seven people were highlighted as Volunteers of the Year. They were:

o Media Volunteer: Danielle Beauchaine, who promotes the Red Cross and publicizes their events.

o Disaster Services Volunteer: John Burke, who has helped provide care and shelter for people displaced by disasters.

o Blood Services Volunteer: Claire Finkel, who still works at weekly blood drives after 40 years of service.

o Youth Volunteer: Waverly He, who has been a leader on the Red Cross Youth Council and devoted time to community service throughout high school.

o Health and Safety Volunteer: Susan LaLone, who has helped train many in CPR and first-aid.

o Board Volunteer: Ryan Nisle, who helps organize the annual Real Heroes fundraising breakfast.

o Service to Armed Forces/VA Volunteer: Lynn Yost, who dedicates time to helping military members and their families.
