A Ridgefield woman injured in a Friday night crash is recovering at a local hospital.

Taryn Kubicek, 19, has been moved out of the intensive care unit at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, and on Wednesday was listed in stable condition.

Kubicek was the passenger in a Mazda two-door car that collided with a Nissan Rogue SUV just after 9:15 p.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Mill Plain Boulevard.

Just before the crash, the Mazda’s driver, Jonathan Harmon, 21, of Ridgefield, quickly veered from the right lane to the left lane as he approached traffic that was stopped for an Interstate 5 Bridge lift. Harmon lost control of the car before it struck the Nissan, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Harmon, who also was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, was released from the hospital Saturday morning. The driver of the Nissan Rogue, 41-year-old Jason Phillips of Vancouver, was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. He was not listed in the patient directory.
