CHILOQUIN, Ore. — Authorities say three dogs died after an Oregon woman left them in her truck for four hours.
Gale McMahon, assistant animal control officer for Klamath County, told the Mail Tribune she responded Monday to a restaurant on Highway 97 in Chiloquin after receiving a call that three Rottweilers had died from the heat. She said someone tried to get them out of the vehicle and cool them.
According to McMahon, the woman claimed she made phone calls after driving to the restaurant at about 9:15 a.m. The dogs remained in the vehicle until after 1 p.m.
McMahon cited the 65-year-old woman on three counts of animal abuse.
The Klamath County District Attorney’s Office says it’s reviewing the case and will only release the woman’s name if she’s officially charged.
