SPOKANE — A Nine Mile Falls man accused of helping sell industrial bleach as a miracle cure for HIV, cancer and other diseases has made a plea deal to avoid federal prison time.

The lawyer for Chris Olson says he pleaded guilty to bottling and labeling drugs shipped across state lines.

The Spokesman-Review reports as part of the deal he will testify against three other people scheduled for trial in December. They are accused of selling sodium chlorite, which is used in bleaching paper, and claiming miracle cures.

The FDA says the chemical can cause nausea and potentially lethal low blood pressure.
