WEST LINN, Ore. — A fatal crash in Clackamas County has taken the life of a second teenager.

Officials said the driver, 18-year-old Hayden James Soyk, died at the scene Sunday.

His girlfriend, 17-year-old Madison Higgins, was a passenger in the car. She was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.

KATU reports an uncle, Troy Lown, told reporters Monday night at the hospital that she had “zero chance of recovery” and her organs were being donated, in accordance with her wishes.

Soyk graduated last year from West Linn High School and Higgins was a junior and member of the varsity softball team.

The sheriff’s office says speed was a factor in the car’s crashing into a utility pole.
