Vancouver — An itinerary of services have been scheduled for Vancouver Fire Capt. Gregg Roberts, who died June 6 in an off-duty motor vehicle accident.

A public viewing will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 E. 12th St., Vancouver.

A funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at First Church of God, 3300 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver.

Vancouver Fire Capt. Scott Willis said Wednesday the church will likely be at capacity, and said members of the public are encouraged to attend a reception at 3 p.m. Monday at Meadow Glade Adventist Elementary School, 1817 N.E. 109th Ave. in Battle Ground.

Roberts, a Battle Ground area resident, joined the Vancouver Fire Department in 2004 and became a captain in 2010. Prior to becoming a firefighter, he taught physical education at Meadow Glade.

He died from injuries sustained in a rollover accident in the 10100 block of Northeast Ward Road. Investigators said it appeared Roberts was wearing his seat belt, and suspected an overcorrection caused his 1997 Jeep Wrangler to roll.

Roberts, 52, was married with three children. His 14-year-old son was with him at the time of the accident but wasn’t seriously injured.

Willis said a Gregg Roberts Benevolent Fund has been established and donations may be made at any Umpqua Bank location. The account number is 974841959. Checks and cash donations may also be mailed to Umpqua Bank, 16409 S.E. First St., Vancouver, WA 98684.
