Vancouver — Volunteer bike mechanics and educators will be on hand Saturday at Hough Elementary School to offer free maintenance checks, safety instruction and $6 helmets to riders of all ages.
The community bike-safety fair is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 1900 Daniels St. The sponsoring organization is nonprofit Bike Clark County, with help from local bike shop mechanics and Vancouver police, who’ll be providing a “rules of the road safety talk” followed by a skills rodeo for the younger children, according to organizer Bryan Miller.
Fifty volunteers and children from at least six local elementary schools are expected to turn up.
“This is all about preparing youth, families and adults for a safe summer of cycling,” Miller said. Learn more at http://bikeclarkcounty.org.
