PORTLAND — Greater Portland Inc. has selected Janet LaBar, a former economic development official in Phoenix, as its president and chief executive officer. She replaces Sean Robbins, who was appointed by Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber to lead the state’s Business Oregon economic development organization.
LaBar most recently served as chief performance officer for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, where she coordinated public-private partnerships starting in 2004. She will begin her new job July 1.
“Generating results in economic development takes clear vision and strong leadership — Janet has both,” said Greg Ness, Greater Portland Inc.’s board chairman.
