VANCOUVER — The mayors’ patriotic tie competition will again be a part of Saturday’s annual Flag Day observance.

The 3:30 p.m. community celebration will take place at the parade ground bandstand on the Fort Vancouver National Site, across from the Grant House, 1101 Officers Row, Vancouver.

Local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will judge the fifth annual mayors of Clark County patriotic tie competition. People at the event will take part in the National Pause for the Pledge at 4 p.m.

There also will be live music at 3 p.m.

Colors will be presented by the Prairie High School Air Force Junior ROTC color guard.

Speakers will include Matthew Bisturis, recipient of the 2014 Marshall Public Leadership Award; Jose Scott, recipient of the 2014 Marshall Youth Leadership Award; and Aaron Kraft, representing event sponsor Veolia Water.

The event is organized by the Fort Vancouver National Trust as one of its Celebrate Freedom programs.
