Condition improves for man allegedly shot by father

The condition of a man who was allegedly shot by his father last week has improved, according to hospital officials at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

After more than a week in critical condition, Matthew Luster was upgraded to serious condition today. He remains in the intensive care unit.

According to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office, Danny Lee Luster shot and killed his wife, Sandra Luster, and the family’s dog June 9 at their home, 13007 N.E. 52nd St., in Vancouver’s North Image neighborhood.

Danny Luster also reportedly shot his son, Matthew Luster, in the abdomen. Danny Luster was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the report.

Neighbors heard the struggle and gunshots about 5:20 a.m. and called 911. Vancouver police officers responded and are continuing to investigate the incident.
