Letter: We display outrage then do nothing

Our children are being murdered by young people. Access to guns and enough ammunition to take out city blocks make these killings possible. Do you really need high-powered rifles in your house? These are killing machines, not for hunting.

Now is the time to demand action from our legislators. They have legislation on their desks that will help to slow down the rampage. When good people do nothing, bad things will continue to occur. Call, write, email your representatives and insist they take action now. Demand that laws be written to hold gun owners responsible for criminal acts that occur with their weapons.

Our school children and staff are sitting ducks, and we need to provide more protection for their precious lives. We pray, hold vigils, wring our hands, then do nothing to change the horrible killings.

Our Bill of Rights states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” We have the National Guard and a standing Army. I’m not afraid of terrorists from afar, I am terrified of my neighbor next door that maintains an arsenal, and uses it with impunity.
