LAKEWOOD — When the school year ended, a Lakewood girl was waiting for the Clover Park School Board to answer her request to create sidewalk chalk art during recess at Custer Elementary.
Then on Saturday — her ninth birthday — Sterling Norris received a letter from Superintendent Deborah LeBeau. Sterling won permission to draw outside with chalk.
Beginning in the fall, The News Tribune reports chalk art will be allowed at district schools. Principals will designate areas and monitor content.
Maintenance workers had objected to Sterling’s chalk art.
