Esther Short — The Vancouver-based Justice for Children group, which promotes and helps draw donations for the county’s Children’s Justice Center, was honored this month by the National Children’s Alliance.

Justice for Children, created in 2009 with the motto “Our Kids, Our Town,” won the alliance’s 2014 Volunteer Leadership Group Award for its efforts to help support abused children and shine a light on the issue.

The award was presented during a banquet at the National Children’s Alliance Leadership Conference, in Washington, D.C., which ran June 1-4.

“It is a great honor to this community also to have volunteers of this caliber among us,” Children’s Justice Center Executive Director Mary Blanchette said in a press release. “The children are very lucky to have them on their side.”
