Tribal police chase ends in fatality near Tacoma

TACOMA — The Washington State Patrol says a suspected drunken driver was fleeing from Puyallup Tribal Police overnight when the his crashed on the ramp from northbound Interstate 5 to the Port of Tacoma Road.

The patrol says the 30-year-old Goldendale man died in the rollover crash. A man and woman in their 20s riding in the car were injured and taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

Trooper Brooke Bova told KOMO they were in critical condition.

The crash around midnight closed the Port of Tacoma Road exit ramp for more than three hours.
