Portland-based Fred Meyer Stores Inc. plans to expand its fuel sales in Clark County by adding an off-site fueling station near its Salmon Creek store. Construction of the fuel center is expected by June or July.

Plans call for the Fred Meyer station to be part of a small retail complex at 406 N.E. 139th St., across the street from the Salmon Creek store, 800 N.E. Tenney Road. Fred Meyer, owned by Cincinnati-based Kroger, is working with Mike Jenkins, of Vancouver-based MAJ Development Corp., the project’s developer.

In addition to Salmon Creek, Fred Meyer also plans to add fuel pumps to its Hazel Dell store. Clark County is home to five other Fred Meyer stores at Fisher’s Landing, Mill Plain, Orchards, Grand Boulevard and in Battle Ground.
