PORT ANGELES — A Sequim woman who was ticketed for driving into an Olympic National Park parking lot during the government shutdown had her $125 fine erased this week by a federal magistrate.
Leanne Potts says the magistrate in Tacoma agreed the wording on a driveway sign last October was unclear and confusing.
The Peninsula Daily News reports the sign read, “”Because of the federal government shutdown, this National Park Service facility is closed.”
Port Angeles teacher Kelly Sanders was ticketed the same day when she took a group of foreign exchange students for a hike. She decided to pay the fine rather than miss work going to court in Tacoma.
