Woman’s rape fantasy leaves her a criminal record, debt of $5,000

To save face when husband arrived, she called police

The kinky sexual interlude that Elizabeth Renee Martinez envisioned did not include her husband’s coming home for lunch.

But he did.

And he encountered what appeared to be a rapist brutalizing his wife.

In fact, he had walked into an elaborate rape fantasy Martinez orchestrated with a man she met through a Craigslist ad.

She left the door of her Happy Valley home unlocked and warned the man about the rabbit poop in the backyard.

When he entered the home, he called her — she was in the bedroom — to be sure he was in the right house and that she still wanted to follow through with their rendezvous.

Martinez’ husband arrived as it got underway.

Martinez told her husband the man had raped her and called 911 to report the crime, resulting in a large police response.

The Craigslist man remained at the home. “He said, ‘I’m not going anywhere. I want to be here when the police arrive,'” said prosecutor Scott Healy.

The man explained to deputies how he ended up in Martinez’ bedroom, and showed text messages and emails to support his story. He was not arrested.

Martinez, meanwhile, was adamant that she had been forcibly raped and went to a hospital for an examination. A lengthy investigation by Clackamas County detectives concluded she was lying.

On Friday, Martinez pleaded guilty to improper use of the 911 system and was sentenced to two years’ bench probation and 100 hours’ community service. She declined to address the court. Martinez will have to pay $4,952.75 in restitution to the Sheriff’s Office to cover the cost of the investigation.

Healy noted that the situation could have been much worse:

“Imagine if her husband had a firearm.”

The incident is reminiscent of a 2008 case. A man and woman who connected through Craigslist acted out a rape fantasy in a wooded area near Milwaukie.

A homeless woman reported what appeared to be a sexual assault.

The couple were cited for public indecency and criminal trespass. The charges were dismissed in 2009 on a technicality.
