Letter: Research charity before donating

Reading the March 2 letter “Lack of vet support is disgraceful,” I appreciate James S. Roberts’ outrage over the Wounded Warriors TV advertisements but maybe he should be more outraged by the “charity” itself. According to an article in Veterans Today, for the year 2011, the Wounded Warriors returned 38 percent of the money they collect back to benefit programs while paying top 10 staff members $150,000 to $333,000 in salaries.

I would recommend different charities, such as Fisher House Foundation, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and Battle Buddies, which are good ones.
