Here’s a visual Talking Point.

The Phillie Phanatic mascot playfully pinches home plate umpire Toby Basner as Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg (23) greets a Yankees coach at the start of the spring training game Thursday in Clearwater, Fla.

Want to get a hockey fan’s attention?

Just say “beer.”

A Boise arena is getting the wrong kind of attention after a lawsuit filed by four fans of the Idaho Steelheads. They allege the arena’s $7 large beer contains the same amount as the shorter, wider $4 small beer.

They are seeking $10,000 in damages (that’s about 357 “large” beers for each of them).

The lawsuit came shortly after another fan posted a YouTube video of him pouring a small beer into the arena’s “large” cup and filling it. By Thursday, it had more than 670,000 views.

In response, CenturyLink Arena says it will increase its large beer from 20 ounces to 24.

Chris Fowler is taking over play-by-play responsibilities for the marquee Saturday night college football game on ABC.

ESPN announced that Fowler had signed a nine-year contract extension through 2023. The network said a day earlier that Brent Musburger was leaving “Saturday Night Football” and doing games for SEC Network.

Fowler and Herbstreit have worked together on “GameDay” since 1996 and will now team up on the Saturday night games. As good as Musburger was in his prime, Talking Points believes this is a good move.

It’s a fine line between being and institution and being over the hill. Even the best announcers cross that line eventually, unless you’re Vin Scully.
