Chicago at Timbers

Kickoff: Noon today at Providence Park.

TV: Root Sports, cable Channel 34.

Radio: 750 AM.

Tickets:www.timbers.com.

Timbers: Coming off a 1-1 draw in the season opener, the Timbers will look to be more effective on the attack, perhaps by shooting sooner instead of seeking a perfect pass. Defender Pa Modou Kah and midfielder Kalif Alhassan seem unlikely to play because of injuries suffered against Philadelphia. Might winger Steve Zakuani see his first significant action as a Timber? The Timbers have three wins and a draw in four meetings all time with the Fire, the draw a 2-2 game last season.

Fire: Chicago lost its opener 3-2 at Chivas USA after rallying from a 2-0 hole. The status of forward Mike Magee, the 2013 MLS MVP with 21 goals, is uncertain. Coach Frank Yallop, who most recently coached San Jose to the 2012 Supporters Shield, said on Thursday that McGee is unlikely to start in Portland after missing the Chicago opener with an injury. The Fire's re-built defense includes former Sounders center back Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and former Timbers fullback Lovel Palmer.
