The Vancouver man struck while crossing Northeast Andresen Road Thursday morning remains hospitalized.

Cody T. Robinson, 20, was hit by a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday as he crossed Andresen Road at Fourth Plain Boulevard. As of Saturday evening, Robinson remained in serious condition at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The driver of the SUV didn’t stop, but Vancouver police soon located a suspect vehicle in a parking lot at a McDonald’s restaurant just south of the intersection. Police later arrested the vehicle’s registered owner, 28-year-old James D. Schellhas of Yacolt, who had reported his vehicle stolen shortly after the hit-and-run crash occurred.

Schellhas appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of hit-and-run injury and vehicular assault. Judge Barbara Johnson held him on $200,000 bail and scheduled his arraignment for March 21.
