The pedestrian struck by a car Thursday morning while crossing Northeast Andresen Road remains in serious condition.

Cody T. Robinson, 20, of Vancouver is hospitalized in the intensive care unit at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Robinson was crossing Andresen Road at Fourth Plain Boulevard when he was hit by a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban at about 5:30 a.m., Vancouver police said.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene, leaving his vehicle at a McDonald’s parking lot just south of the crash scene. Police searched the area but did not locate the driver.

Later that day, investigators arrested the vehicle’s registered owner, James Schellhas, 28, of Yacolt. He made his first court appearance Friday on suspicion of hit-and-run injury and vehicular assault.
