Oregon’s jobless rate continues to inch down, falling under 7 percent last month. The state Employment Department said Tuesday that the 6.9 percent rate is the lowest since August 2008.

Unemployment was above 11 percent during the Great Recession and has been falling for more than four years.

The department said February saw moderate job growth, marked by stronger-than-expected numbers in manufacturing and continued steady growth in food manufacturing.

In the latter category, the state agency said, rapid expansion has been notable in three areas: tortillas, confections, and seasonings and dressings.
