Letter: ACA’s failure will result in its repeal

Someone needs to respond to the March 11 letter, “Herrera Beutler fails in promises,” from Jon T. Haugen, a former political opponent of U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, in 2012.

Haugen defends Obamacare and attacks Herrera Beutler for failing to repeal and replace the law, which is one of her stated goals. If he’s laying the failure to repeal Obamacare — the current president’s signature legislation — at the feet of Herrera Beutler, he needs to come back to reality.

The only failure with regard to Obamacare is that it resulted in millions of Americans losing their insurance plans, and has cost working families more money — often hundreds of dollars more each month. Not to mention that employer after employer has cut hours and chosen not to hire because Obamacare has made it too expensive for businesses to provide health care for as many employees as they did before.

I believe Obamacare will be replaced, and it will be because of the law’s own failure to help middle-class families. It will be nice having Herrera Beutler there helping with better solutions.
