Letter: Failed CRC drives us backward

The Columbian
Published: March 24, 2014, 5:00pm

The March 13 front-page article “Leavitt decries CRC’s end” was regarding Mayor Tim Leavitt’s State of the City address. It absolutely amazes me how backward thinking our politicians are in doing everything possible to block the building of a bridge to bring Clark County and the state of Washington into the 21st century.

Imagine, if you will, how backwards the San Francisco Bay Area would be if the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate bridges were not built, not to mention the Dunbarton, the Hayward-San Mateo and the Richmond-San Rafael bridges. Commerce and commuters would be sailing by ferry boats. Having lived in the Bay area for 60 years, I can say to the people and politicians of the Clark County area, wake up and build the bridge before the costs become even more astronomical than they are now.

We need more progressive politicians like Leavitt. At least he is in the 21st century. Where are the rest of the stumblebums who dare call themselves leaders?
