Arch Miller had his local view “Job-creation aspect lost in oil terminal debate,” about his support for the oil transfer facility and the job benefits for Clark County published March 23 in The Columbian. After reading Miller’s opinion, I was left wondering if Miller was caring about the residents of Clark County or caring more about his bottom line.
Miller founded an airline industry school, a hospitality and restaurant school and now a railway industry school. Many of the Clark County students who have attended these three schools are promised help after graduation in finding “good”-paying jobs with just a few months of study at very costly tuition rates. Many students find they must relocate out of Clark County to even find a job, and many times at a minimum wage or lower if the wage is supported by tips. Is Miller promoting oil trains and the oil transfer facility because he truly cares about clean and safe living conditions for residents of Clark County?
