Portland Thorns set to play Western New York

Thorns visit Western N.Y.

The Portland Thorns on Saturday return to the site of their National Women’s Soccer League championship victory, visiting Western New York. The match kicks off at 4 p.m. A live webstream will be available at portlandthornsfc.com.

Striker Abby Wambach is expected to make her 2014 debut for the Flash (1-1-0, 3 points) after missing Western New York’s first two matches with a broken orbital bone. Alex Morgan (ankle) remains out for Portland (2-0-1, 7 points).Following Saturday’s game, Thorns Christine Sinclair (Canada), Allie Long (USA) and Nikki Marshall (USA) will join their national teams for the May 8 friendly between the United States and Canada at Winnipeg. All three are expected back for the May 10 home match against Seattle.
