A triple-double from Andre Murray helped the Vancouver Volcanoes remain unbeaten in International Basketball League play as they rallied past the Portland Chinooks 128-124 on Sunday at the O’Connell Center.

Murray had 31 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to pace the Volcanoes (3-0).

Adam Herman, playing his first game with the Volcanoes scored 27 points, and Mike Ward (22 points, 12 rebounds) and Calvin Hampton (22 points, 13 rebounds) each posted double-doubles.

“It was a good win,” Herman said, “We were down by a lot at the half, but we got in the locker room, stuck together and came out and got it done in the second half.”

Portland (3-1) had a 27-point lead at 88-61 in the third quarter when Vancouver started its comeback.

“We decided to play defense in the second half, and our offensive execution got better,” Volcanoes head coach Joe Navarro said. “Right now it’s about us, it is not about who we play, we had a really bad first half and hopefully they learned to play together and to play with defense, it is about us figuring ourselves out.”

Portland’s Germain Jordan led all scorers with 34 points and 13 rebounds.

The Volcanoes are next scheduled to travel to Los Angeles where they will play the Hollywood Shooting Stars and Santa Barbara Breakers on Friday and Saturday.

The next home game for the Volcanoes is May 17 vs. Portland.
