Letter: Remember, idols are just people

What is our world becoming because of pop culture? Should today’s pop idols act a certain way because they have an influence on teens? Or does it matter and they can act any way they want? Being a teen myself, I think it depends on who you are and who you idolize.

Are today’s idols a good example for kids and teens? Justin Bieber has fallen to No. 8 on the most-hated pop icons list. Or look at Miley Cyrus, for example, who was once one of America’s most popular teenagers. They are just people; they make mistakes. It is the public who makes a big deal about it.

Pop culture can be both a good thing and a bad thing. To help solve the problem, I think we should not allow so much paparazzi. We are creating a society that has formed circles around celebrities, and not the things that matter.
