Memories of Mom: A mother’s perfection

The Columbian
Published: May 10, 2014, 5:00pm

My mother was 17 when she got married. Two years later in the 1940s, a polio epidemic went through the states. My mother got polio and was paralyzed from the waist down.

Her handicap however did not slow her down. She raised five children, made all our clothes and kept the cleanest house ever.

My mother thrived on being a perfectionist because of the handicap.

She died at age 61 of heart failure because she didn’t get enough exercise.

If I can be 1/3 as perfect as my mother, I am happy.

Love and miss you mom.
