High school rowers from 26 clubs will compete for regional championships and berths to the U.S. Rowing Junior Nationals during three days of racing beginning Friday on Vancouver Lake.

The U.S. Rowing Pacific Northwest Junior Regional Regatta is held annually at Vancouver Lake. The racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, on Saturday and on Sunday, with the competition concluding midday on Sunday. Spectators can see the races from Vancouver Lake Park.

Vancouver Lake Crew, with rowers from high schools around Southwest Washington, has 23 rowers participating. A total of 665 crews from three states are expected to compete.

Six of the Vancouver Lake Crew entries are in varsity-level divisions, where the champions advance to nationals. VLC has varsity rowers in the girls quad, double and single races, and in the boys double, single and lightweight double.

The Northwest regional regatta is the largest of five regional events that determine entries to the nationals, according to U.S. Rowing.
