Letter: Homosexuality topic draws debate

In Joyce Colson’s May 7 letter, “Comparisons unfair,” she states that Carrie Ross, in a May 1 letter, “Lifestyle prompts reasons for alarm,” is comparing homosexuality with pedophilia, as well as saying homosexuality “causes” pedophilia. As I read it, Ross’ point was that once homosexuality is viewed as a sexual orientation, then it’s just a step further on the slide down to view pedophilia the same way, which, in fact, some psychologists are doing.

And regarding “babies not having a sexual attraction,” as per Colson, there is a natural order of things. Let nature take its course and we would all grow up knowing what gender we are and what gender we are attracted to. This is innate, whereas homosexuality and pedophilia are not, they are choices.

And while I’m at it, I may as well go on to say that it’s gays who feel a “need” to come out of the closet and share on every media source their choice of “lifestyle,” but if one appears less than 110 percent behind that “brave hero,” then one is a homophobe and/or bigot. I don’t ask folks I meet what gender they choose to sleep with, nor do I, as most folks (I’m guessing), even care. But if you are going to bring it to the table, be prepared to dine on some debate.
