RANDLE — The Lewis County sheriff’s office says crews continue their search for a 5-year-old Tacoma boy swept away after he rode his motorcycle into the swift Cispus River.

Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said a KIRO-TV helicopter assisted in the search Tuesday.

A visor from the boy’s helmet was found caught in a log jam about a mile downstream from where he went into the river Monday afternoon.

The boy was camping with his family along the river about 10 miles from Randle. Brown said it appears he just got too close to the river.

Brown said the boy’s father, 32, jumped in after his son but was unable to reach him. The father was swept downriver about a half-mile before he was able to reach the shore.
