Vancouver Victory FC moved to the top of the Evergreen Premier League standings on Saturday with an impressive 5-1 win over Bellingham United in front of an announced crowd of 325 at McKenzie Stadium.

Borce Atanasov, returning from nearly a month missed with an ankle injury, scored two goals and added two assists to power the Vancouver attack. He opened the scoring in the third minute of the match with a tremendous shot into the upper corner off the counter-attack.

“Having Borce back gave us that pace and athleticism (at forward),” Victory coach Biniam Afenegus said.

Mirza Ramic, playing attacking midfield, had a goal and an assist for Vancouver. Tavaughn Harriette and Bobby Hutchin also scored for the Victory.

Afenegus credited the play of Nick Palodichuk in midfield as another key to the victory. Palodichuk will be a senior at Duke University in the fall.

Vancouver is 5-2 in the first-year Evergreen Premier League, two points ahead of South Sound FC, which takes on Bellingham today.

Vancouver next plays on June 8 at Wenatchee.
