A man who allegedly stabbed another man in Portland early Saturday morning was arrested in Vancouver.

Vancouver police assisted Portland police in the arrest of Lamon Hayes Jr., 24, on suspicion of attempted murder and first-degree assault in connection with a Portland stabbing investigation that critically injured a 29-year-old man.

Hayes was booked in the Clark County Jail on Saturday on an arrest warrant. He will be extradited to Oregon at an undetermined time, Portland police said.

Portland officers responded to Southeast 92nd Avenue and Clinton Street just after 3 a.m. Saturday after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he’d been stabbed.

Officers located the 29-year-old man three blocks away and medical personnel took him to a hospital where he remains in critical condition, Portland police said.

The victim was with a female companion when the two encountered another couple whom they did not know, police said.

The factors leading to the victim being stabbed remain under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Portland Police Bureau’s non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
