OKANOGAN — A woman accused of having sex with an 18-year-old Tonasket High School student when she worked as school librarian will avoid jail in a plea bargain.

Under the deal approved Friday in court, 37-year-old Elizabeth Kinkade will serve nine months on electronic home monitoring.

Okanogan County Superior Court Judge Chris Culp said he approved the agreement because the 18-year-old boy did not want to pursue charges.

The Wenatchee World reports Kinkade was arrested in May after she told deputies her husband had fired a gun outside their home when she told him she was having an affair with a student. She was initially charged with sexual misconduct.

She was fired by the school board.
