A search for a residential burglar brought Vancouver police and a K-9 to the Minnehaha area of Vancouver this morning.

The search was along Northeast St. James Boulevard in the vicinity of Cherry Street.

According to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian, a witness reported seeing a burglary in progress at a home in the neighborhood.

Police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said two elementary schools, one private and one public, were briefly locked down as a precaution, but that has been lifted.

It was not immediately clear whether a suspect had been arrested.
