PORTLAND — A woman who claims a pedicure at a Portland nail salon allegedly led to the amputation of her right leg has filed a $280,000 lawsuit against the salon’s owners.

According to the lawsuit filed last week in Multnomah County Circuit Court, Madhu Kumar developed an infection after getting a pedicure at the Nails Trap salon in October 2012.

She claims the pedicurist used a sharp instrument to shave calluses off her feet and lacerated the tip of her right big toe.

The suit claims Kumar suffered “profuse bleeding, gangrene to her toe, amputation of her toe, and amputation of her right leg.”

The Oregonian reports Kumar is seeking $30,000 in medical expenses and $250,000 for pain and suffering.

The salon couldn’t be reached for comment.
