The body of a Portland woman was found Saturday near a popular windsurfing area east of Stevenson.

Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said that the body of Jennifer Gouvea, 38, and her vehicle were found at about 3 p.m. Saturday at an area known as Swell City on state Highway 14.

Detectives from the agency along with members of the Region 4 Major Crimes Scene Investigation Team are working on the case.

Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox said in a press release that investigators are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results to assist in determining the manner of the death.

“At this time this incident has not provided any indication that the citizens of Skamania County have anything to fear,” Cox said in a press memo.

Law enforcement said that additional information would be released as it becomes available.
