The month of October brought an increase in closed home sales in Clark County, with 664 sales marking a 29 percent increase from October 2013, according to RMLS, the Portland-based real estate listing service. The closed sales number was the highest for October since 2005, RMLS said Thursday. Pending sales increased by 15.6 percent, to 601 for the month.

New listings jumped to 738 for the month, an 11.3 percent increase over last October, RMLS said. Still, the new listings were down by 4 percent from September. The median sales price of homes in Clark County for the year to date is $242,000, a 7.8 percent increase from the 10-month median in 2013 of $224,500. The median sales price only in October was $248,900.

Clark County’s inventory of houses for sale is 3.4 months, the lowest monthly inventory of 2014. In September, the housing inventory was 3.7 months. The housing inventory measures the amount of time needed to sell all homes currently on the market.
