Law enforcement officials say that speed caused a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on state Highway 14 in Washougal that left two people injured.

Bruce Barnett, 55, of Washougal was driving a 1992 Lexus LS4D west on the highway when he reportedly lost control in the snow and ice and crossed the center lane, hitting an eastbound 2005 Toyota pickup, according to Washington State Patrol.

A third vehicle, an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Express van, tried to avoid the collision and struck the embankment. The driver of the van was not injured.

Barnett and the driver of the pickup, Jason Dozart, 35, of Washougal were both injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Barnett was discharged from the hospital Thursday night, and Dozart was discharged Friday.

Barnett was cited on suspicion of speeding too fast for the conditions.
