Letter: Figuring why voting so low is tough

Some have complained about the low voter turnout, asking why so few people participate.

Being a border city, most of what our citizens see on television is Oregon politics, and nothing could make you more discouraged than watching huge corporations buy an election. The main advertising here is in the form of street signs (by the way, candidates, pick up your signs that are still littering 192nd Avenue for miles).

Do our schools still teach the value of voting, do they especially teach the girls the history of our just being able to vote? Do parents instill in their children the need to vote? Or do they just complain?

Local politics here is tough. Unless you read your local paper you would believe that M&Ms are just a candy.
