Clark splits matches at NWAC volleyball

The Clark College volleyball team remained alive at the NWAC Tournament in Tacoma with a split of two Day 1 matches.

The Penguins lost to Linn-Benton 12-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-18, but then won a loser-out match against Wenatchee Valley 25-12, 25-21.

In the opener for Clark, Janessa Mast had 16 kills and eight digs, Samantha Hammons had 10 kills, JaNae Davis had 10 kills, Meghan Turner had 14 digs, and Kinsey Pease had 11 digs and 46 assists.

Jazmyn Boyd-Clark had seven kills in the win over Wenatchee Valley. Turner had nine digs, and Pease 22 assists.

Clark (19-18) will play the loser of Spokane vs. Tacoma in a 3 p.m. loser-out match today. A Clark victory in that match would move the Penguins into a 10 a.m. Saturday match.

The tournament runs through Sunday.
