A pair of Larch Corrections Center inmates walked away from a highway work crew assignment Thursday afternoon and went to the Westfield Vancouver mall.
The men were part of a group that was weed whacking brush along state Highway 500 near Falk Road.
They were discovered missing around 1 p.m., when local law enforcement was contacted, said Danette Gadberry, spokeswoman for the corrections center.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies found and captured the prisoners a couple of miles away at the mall near the bus transit center around 2:30 p.m.
The names of the inmates were not released Thursday.
