Community program seeks funds for grants

CAMAS-WASHOUGAL — The Camas-Washougal Community Chest is raising money and accepting donations for its 2015 grant cycle. The umbrella nonprofit agency for East County has been supporting local nonprofit organizations since 1946. The Community Chest is a volunteer organization that relies on donations.

Grant applications must be postmarked no later than Dec. 15. Applicants must demonstrate that their project or program benefits residents of Camas and Washougal in one or more of the following categories: education; youth activities; aid for people with special needs; natural resource conservation; health and welfare; crisis and emergency services; and other similar charitable or civic objectives.

Grant awards will be announced in March.

The Community Chest is trying to raise $75,000 to fund the grants. Find out more about donating at the website above or mail checks to Camas-Washougal Community Chest, P.O. Box 960, Camas, WA 98607.

This year, the agency awarded 17 grants totalling nearly $83,000 to agencies including the Interfaith Treasure House, the East County Family Resource Center, Janus Youth Programs and New Day Dental Clinic.
